I’ve always believed that theatre is a microcosm of the world: a place where we can safely explore what it means to be human. To me, it’s not just an art form; it’s an essential language for empathy, collaboration, and imagination. That’s why I’ve dedicated my career to putting theatre and the arts at the heart of education. The arts should not be an afterthought, as something "nice to have, but not essential" but rather as a driving force for how we learn, connect, and create.
Born in Thailand to Dutch parents, I grew up between cultures, countries, and stories. I’ve lived and worked across the Netherlands, the UK, Singapore, and Thailand, directing more than 25 productions and teaching students from age 3 to 65. Each production, whether a large-scale musical or an intimate devised piece, has been a laboratory for creativity! My goal is always to create a space where people of all ages can discover their voices and explore big ideas together.
As a theatre educator, composer, and writer, I’m fascinated by the intersection of creativity, learning, and human development. My work has ranged from using my technical knowledge to modernize an old 620-seat performing arts centre to writing original work and reimagined classics like 1984 or Down the Rabbit Hole. Across every project, my goal is the same: to make creativity contagious!
I’m committed to amplifying the role of the arts in education and beyond shaping the next generation of creative thinkers, educators, and storytellers. I believe that in a world increasingly defined by technology and AI (no offense, ChatGPT), it’s our imagination, empathy, and artistry that will keep us truly human.
