Accent Coaching
Accent Coaching
Accent work is a practical skill. For actors, it’s less about perfection and more about clarity, consistency, and storytelling.
Accent coaching has been a regular part of my work as a theatre educator and director for many years. I’ve coached individual actors and full casts across a range of productions, helping performers develop accents that are playable, intelligible, and sustainable throughout rehearsal and performance.
My approach focuses on:
Being understood by an audience
Maintaining consistency over long runs
Supporting character and intention, rather than getting lost in technical detail
I work especially well with actors who need an accent that serves the performance, whether for auditions, school productions, showcases, or staged work.
Standard British / RP
Cockney
Contemporary “Broadway” / General American
Southern American
Scottish (general)
Russian (general)
Dutch
I can do and have also supported actors with many other accents as needed, always tailoring the work to the specific script, character, and performer.
Sessions are practical and actor-focused. We work from text, not theory, using repetition, key sound shifts, rhythm, and listening skills to build something that feels natural and usable.
Accent coaching can be:
One-off sessions (auditions or short projects)
Ongoing support during rehearsal periods
Group coaching for casts or classes
